Soul Train is a very young band from the US.
They make powerfull rough music and the Outspoken-Magazine noticed them a few weeks ago.
We didn't want to waste time and took them to task.
Hi Guys,
Could you please introduce yourself and your band.
Trey - Vocals, Dre - Guitar, Keith - Bass, and Jon - Drums, also Jon Rossi - the van driver haha.
You are a Young Band, could you explain what made you to start a band?
The idea was formed originally on december 13th 2007 over
myspace between Trey and Dremus talking to each other. Two years
later their idea came to life when they contacted Jon and we joined
up with Keith.
Where exactly are you living?
We are all from Massachusetts (the Pioneer Valley,).
How is the scene over there?
Well for starters it's very different, the scene is very divided. It's pretty
crappy kids support what they want to support things are also a lot
different now. Back in the day everyone used to come out every
weekend and hangout it was like the thing to do, nowadays shows
over here are just something to pass the time. All in all it's pretty
shitty.
Tell us about your music.
We try to have our own style, we just write what we write.
We try to make music that others can relate to lyrically.
We just write music and have fun doing it.
Do you have some influences?
Anyone who stands up for what they believe in and those who don't take shit from anyone.
What are your lyrics about?
Lyrically we write about our struggles and things we go through day by day for instance right now we are doing this interview in ihop (editor's note: US pancake restaurant chain) via cell phone and this poor waitress is getting hassled by her manager so bad and she's the nicest woman ever. We all stand for what we believe in and we all support those who do the same.
What the hell is emmure?
Emmure is a band, that makes music to make money instead of making money to make music. They are pretty what a band shouldn't be. BREEE BREEE BREEEE!
How did you got this name?
The name soul train came from us being all black, it's an old tv show that features blacks performing to music and having a good time.
Are there any Labels who showed interest?
No labels have showed interest as of now, but Danny from seventh Dagger contacted Jon and Keith and he flows them merch.
Are you working on new stuff already? what can we expect?
We have a few new songs, we are recording two this winter and plan on releasing our full length this summer as well with a cross state tour.
Are you guys something special? Straight Edge? special diet? Something Else?
Jon and Keith are both edge, keith is also vegetarian.
Do you think that makes you beeing a better human/band?
Personally I(jon) think that being edge makes you a better being, keeping your body pure and healthy without polluting it is a good way to live your life. Nowadays edge has become a trend and people claim it just to be "cool", I have reason behind it as well do others who are really true.
Another topic. What do you think about Obama.
Obama has the right idea, however he legislative power to go forward with them.
What do you think about the Bush Era?
FUCK BUSH!
What do you think about the american politics, in generally.
Our government revolves around cash fucking money The government could give about anyone in this country.
Are "black people" even to "white" ones in the States?
Believe it or not, we can drink from public water fountains now, but on a serious note racism is still very much alive.
last but not least... are you cooler that the L.I.O.N Crew?
We don't really know much of the L.I.O.N crew but we do know a lot about the Lion King haha!
Thanks for your time.
